5.1 Discussion and Action: LINDON HOLLOW DITCH CONSERVATION EASEMENT – The Vineyard Town Council will discuss and possibly act to approve the establishment of a conservation easement required to be recorded for Lindon and Orem to receive funding through the Quality Growth Commission.

Background: The cities of Orem and Lindon have applied for a conservation grant to help defray expenses for the improvements of the Lindon Hollow Creek and Wetlands Detention Basin which generally runs along the north side of the old Geneva Steel site.  This would be a perpetual conservation easement to maintain an “Open Land” condition and will prevent any use of the property that will impair, interfere with, or be inconsistent with the stated purpose of the conservation easement.  In addition, the City of Lindon has proposed to construct a nature trail along this easement.

As the property is located within Vineyard’s municipal boundaries, the town has agreed to be the conservation easement holder.  Once adopted, the agreement will be distributed to the town for their records.
